Water Matters, Part II

Past event
May 24, 2016, 7 to 9 PM

Please attend this upcoming event “Water Matters, Part II: Getting to Clean Water without Going Broke.”
After learning on March 31 about our area’s poor water quality conditions under current regulations, this event will focus on the new water quality rules currently being developed. The more community involvement now, the better the new rules will be. The new clean water rules must help change behavior and move Vermont toward a culture of clean water.

On Tuesday, May 24, at 7:00 PM, Rebekah Weber of the Conservation Law Foundation will join us at the Hinesburg Town Hall to share information about the new water quality rules and regulations resulting from Act 64, Vermont’s new clean water initiative.  After Diane Snelling and Marty Illick provide introductory remarks, Rebekah will explain what improvements to the proposed rules are needed to create the very best rules for all Vermonters and for Lake Champlain.

If you are a member of a local community organization, land trust, town Conservation Commission, DRB, Zoning Board, Selectboard or Planning Commission, this information can help to guide your local work.  Because these groups and commissions rely upon informed interested citizens, all are urged to attend. By learning more now, our growing number of interested citizens can be ready to help lead Vermont to healthy waterways in Vermont – sooner rather than later.

Elegant desserts will be served, and there will be plenty of time for questions and conversation. For more information, please call Marty Illick at 425 2002 or Jean Kiedaisch at 482 3382.
