The Solar Open House that was originally scheduled for this Thursday, May 19th, has been moved to Wednesday, May 25th from 6 to 7 pm at the home of Kevin and Lisa Kaija (and family), at the corner of Flat Iron Road and Hurricane Hill in Reading. If you are thinking of looking into solar, this will be an opportunity to see a solar installation and talk to people who benefit from it. If you have already had a solar site visit, this is also a great chance to ask questions you might have before you sign a contract as there will be a representative of Catamount Solar, the installer for the Solarize program, on site.
Solarize is an initiative being organized by Sustainable Woodstock and volunteers to encourage communities to work together to bring more solar energy to our area. Through an agreement with a selected installer, Catamount Solar, the cost of solar will be reduced for everyone as more people sign up for an installation during the campaign. Residents of Barnard, Bridgewater, Hartland, Pomfret, Reading and Woodstock who sign up for a solar installation before June 30th will have access to these extra incentives. Our goal is to bring at least 180KW of new, clean solar energy to our area. For more information, go to www.sustainablewoodstock.org/our-programs/solarize.
