As Secretary/Treasurer of our Eastwoods Neighborhood Association, and with the approval of the other officers (Alesia Clear-Vice President and Elise Guyette-President), let me invite you to meeting of the Association at 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 5th, at 22 Orchard Road. We will meet in our backyard but will move inside if it snows or rains. Please bring your own chair. Let’s plan on a one-hour meeting.
For your information, we are a registered association with the Vermont Secretary of State. We have officers. We have a checking account at Merchants Bank (balance - approximately $4700).
We have functioned well for almost two decades. We have influenced the development of condos and apartments in the neighborhood, contributed funds for traffic calming (bumps, road narrowing, and trees), met with Rice officials and SB Police re student traffic issues, successfully lobbied for the one-way street at the head of Hadley Road, and funded yearly neighborhood block parties in the summer. We have a subcommittee involved in party planning.
There are some organizational items that we need to address: 1) electing or re-affirming the officers, 2) approving by-laws (a model will be provided for approval at the meeting), and 3) establishing a procedure for approval of the disposition of funds.
Please send agenda items to me (david.shiman@uvm.edu).
Let’s make this as efficient and painless as possible.
Thanks to David Duell (Proctor Ave) for his initial posting regarding our association on Front Porch Forum on May13, 2016.
