The Town of Bennington will hold a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bennington Transfer Station, 904 Houghton Lane in Bennington. The event is free for residents of Arlington, Bennington, North Bennington, Old Bennington, Dorset, Glastenbury, Manchester, Manchester Village, Pownal, Rupert, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford, Sunderland and Woodford. Bring any substance with a label that has warnings such as toxic, corrosive, poison, combustible, danger or caution, wear gloves, use in a well-ventilated room, keep away from flame or similar warnings. Oil based paint and latex paint will be accepted. The Bennington Police will also collect prescription drugs for disposal. Visit www.bcswavt.org for more information and a list of accepted materials.
