This free concert will be held by Beth EL Synaoguge at the Riverside School Barn in Lyndonville, VT on Sunday, May 22nd at 2pm with refreshments included in a coffeehouse-style atmosphere. There will be a space set aside for dancing for those who wish to do so!

Beth El Synagogue received a grant from the Ben and Rosalie Harris Community Fund for this exciting concert of music by Jewish composers entitled- From 'Stormy Weather' to 'Blue Skies': Jewish Composers and the American Songbook. The St. J. Jazz Ensemble is performing and consists of bass player and vocalist Phil Brown, pianist John Goodrich, guitar player Buzz Hubbard and drummer Rick Erwin, along with special guest vocalist Janet Edmondson who sings with the Swing North Big Band and is the music teacher at Riverside School. The jazz standards that will be performed are favorites from Jewish composers such as George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin.

The purpose of the Ben and Rosalie Harris Community Fund is to provide a yearly cultural and educational event for the Jewish, Interfaith and All-Faith communities to help build bridges among these communities. The joy of listening to favorite jazz standards with these exceptional musicians will be an asset to bringing people of all faiths together for this purpose. The St. J. Jazz Ensemble concert of music by Jewish composers is in keeping with continuing the spirit with which Ben and Rosalie have contributed to the quality of life, religious harmony, and educational and cultural enrichment in the Northeast Kingdom, and is a wonderful way to honor them.
