When gardens and woodchucks intersect, it’s not usually a matter of celebration. But on Friday, May 13 at 6:30 pm, the Baldwin Library in Wells River will welcome Ron Krupp, author of The Woodchuck’s Guide to Gardening. Jessica Hyman, Director of the VT Community Garden Network, lists Krupp’s first book as “one of our go-to garden books. The conversational writing style, historical tidbits, and quirky observations make it as fun to read as informative. We can always count on Ron for garden advice, but his impact goes much further. For decades, Ron has been making the critical link between food and community, and the important role that the food we grow together has in strengthening our food system.”
That is the focus of Krupp’s second book, Lifting the Yoke: Local Solutions to America’s Farm and Food Crisis. His latest, published in 2014, is The Woodchuck Returns to Gardening. All three works are available to borrow from the library, and copies will also be for sale at the talk. Hosted by the Vegetable Gardeners’ Group which meets monthly at the library, this presentation is open to all. There will be refreshments.
