Vermont will celebrate the 46th anniversary of Green Up Day on Saturday, May 7th. Vermont relies on its citizens to voluntarily clean up roadways and streams. Participation in this special Vermont tradition will help improve water quality and the aesthetics of our environment.

If you plan to participate, all Green Up litter must be placed in specially marked bags. Special Green Up bags can be picked up at the Town of Essex Parks and Recreation Department, located at 81 Main Street, through Friday May 6th. On Saturday, bags can be picked up at the Town of Essex Highway Garage located at 190 Sand Hill Road. Green Up Day group hours are from 9 am until 2 pm. The Town will pick up Green Up Day trash from 2 pm - 4 pm on May 7th or the following Monday, May 9th. Questions can be directed to the Parks and Recreation Department at 878-1342.
