Why Climate Change Matters to You! at the Charlotte Library

Past event
May 25, 2016, 7 to 9 PM

Come learn about the Paris climate talks and the latest international climate change agreements; how climate justice has become the new face of the environmental movement; and why the decisions we make locally about energy matter in a global context. Leading our discussion will be Brian Tokar and Aly Johnson-Kurts. Brian is a lecturer at UVM, board member of 350Vermont and the Institute for Social Ecology, and author of several books, including Toward Climate Justice: Perspectives on the Climate Crisis and Social Change. A student at Smith College, Aly led the media team for the SustainUS delegation to the Paris climate talks, where she got international attention for confronting Governor Shumlin for his support of the fracked gas pipeline. She is the communications director at Rights & Democracy and has worked in the climate and political spheres. It’s sure to be a lively evening — please join us! We'll gather at the Charlotte Library.
