Hi neighbors! In the 9 months since the formation of our Grand Isle County Act 46 Study Committee, we have researched and wrestled with many ways of meeting the requirements of Act 46. The time has come to make our recommendation to our communities. Before we do, the representatives of Grand Isle town want to know which of THREE options our residents will support as the best plan for the future of our students and our community.

One option provides off-island school choice for Grades 7-8. Another provides high school choice only. One proposes a merger with another Supervisory Union with no tuition fees. One eliminates tuitioning students altogether, but removes our option for high school choice. There are pros and cons to every option, and we need to know what is most important to the people of our town.

Complicated? Yes. Impossible to understand? No. Please come to a Public Forum for Grand Isle town residents on Mon. May 9 at 6:30 pm at Grand Isle School. The School Board will present the options as clearly as possible, hear from YOU about your preferences, and then decide (that night) which option we will recommend to the Study Committee.

Be advised, though, that the options may be difficult to understand without the accompanying explanation that we'll provide on Monday. Note to Grand Isle School parents: we'll send the option summary home with the school newsletter on Friday.
