Housing Summit: Landlord Tenant Law

Past event
May 19, 2016, 8 AM to 3:30 PM

As part of our on-going Housing Summit series, Lamoille Housing Partnership and the Lamoille Area Board of REALTORS® are joining forces to bring a comprehensive day long educational opportunity to the area. If you are a landlord, a property manager or real estate professional involved with residential rental properties, a town official wanting to know more about landlord and tenant relationships, or a service provider involved in housing issues you may want to attend this workshop. Debunk some prevailing housing myths and learn about screening potential tenants, what to have in a lease, what the obligations of landlords and tenants really are, how to collect rent and what the eviction process looks like (and how to make eviction a last resort). This workshop is being presented by Angela Zaikowski of the law office of Bennett & Zaikowski, P.C. Ms. Zaikowski is also the director of the Vermont Apartment Owner's Association. Besides working with Vermont landlords, she frequently consults with the Vermont Legislature on issues concerning landlord and tenant laws and policies. The day is being partially underwritten with a Housing Opportunity Grant from the National Association of REALTORS®. The workshop will be held at the Green Mountain Technical and Career Center on Thursday May 19 from 8:00 to 3:30. A donation of $25 includes lunch and the newest Vermont Renters Handbook made available by the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development. For real estate professionals interested in continuing education credits please contact Sara Waskuch at 802.888.3873.
