Green Up Day is this Saturday, May 7th! Still looking for a way to participate? Here are two great opportunities to join in the fun and help clean our town:

Wild Parsnip Clean-Up at Round Pond: Help promote a healthy ecosystem at South Hero’s beautiful Round Pond by removing wild parsnip, an exotic plant that pushes out the native species that provide food and shelter for wildlife. Join Lake Champlain Land Trust and South Hero Land Trust on Green Up Day to remove the plants, which are harmless and easy to dig up during the spring. Meet at the trailhead at Round Pond Natural Area at 8:45 am. We’ll work from 9:00-11:00 am.

White’s Beach Clean-up: Join South Hero Land Trust staff and board to remove trash and debris from the shores of Lake Champlain at White’s Beach, preparing the popular swimming spot for a summer of splashing and sunbathing! Great for families with young children. 10:00-11:00 am.

Call or email Katy to sign up: 372-3786 or katy@shlt.org. After you volunteer, join us for our annual Green Up Day “Thank You” BBQ at the Folsom playground. We’ll be serving free burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream. Celebrate your hard work and a cleaner, greener South Hero! 11:00 am- 12:30 pm.
