Wild Spring Greens and Culinary Weeds

Take a guided plant walk through Macrae Farm Park in Colchester, and learn to identify local wild edibles and herbal medicinal plants.We will focus on abundant plants, often considered weeds, that have high culinary and nutritional value, and we'll taste sample some of the abundant plants as we go.We'll likely find cattail, horsetail, jewel weed, yarrow,garlic mustard, wild violets, dandelion, burdock, motherwort, plantain, nettles, yellow dock, and many more surprises.
Plant and habitat protectionwill be a focus, along with safe identification, proper timing for harvest, and preparation techniquesfor food and herbal medicine.
Class fee: $10-20. sliding scale; Pre-registration suggested.
