Green Up Day is Saturday... but you can start earlier if you want!
Here are the basics:
- COLLECT: The Cornwall Town Hall has green bags for collection, and a map so that you can see what areas have been covered. Take a bag or two and highlight the area you're going to cover.
- DEPOSIT: Bring the trash to the school on Saturday and toss it into one of the town trucks. (One for bags, one for metal, tires, etc.) Please don't leave trash by the side of the road. Just throw it in a vehicle and bring it to the school. Thanks. I'll be there in the morning, come whenever it's convenient for you.
- RECORD: Green Up wants better records of how many people collected and how much trash (probably for funding purposes), so please record how many people collected and how many bags you've brought when you dump.
A few things to watch out for:
- Hazardous waste items. Don't collect them but notify the town.
- Traffic. The worst areas are the state routes. Please be careful. We have a few neon vests you can borrow when you get your bags.
- Ticks. This is prime tick season. (They're active above 40 degrees.) Wear long pants and long sleeved shirt, and mud boots if you have them. Check yourself for ticks when you come inside. If you find one attached, pull it out with tweezers (not your fingers), put it in a ziploc, and call your doctor.
**Thanks for beautifying our town!!**
