Rick Winston asked me to let Worcester folks know about the series of informal "meet the candidates" events that will be taking place at the Adamant Community Club, starting with gubernatorial candidate Sue Minter this coming Saturday, May 7. All other candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor have been invited, and as noted below, some have either confirmed or are in the process of being scheduled. Here's the Adamant Community Club's announcement:
MEET SUE MINTER AT THE ADAMANT COMMUNITY CLUB!
With the coming of warmer weather, the Adamant Community Club will open its doors and host a series of "Meet the Candidate" events. The first candidate who has accepted our invitation is Sue Minter, one of three candidates running in the Democratic primary for Governor. She will be at the Community Club on Saturday, May 7, from 4:30 to 5:30.
Sue served in the House of Representatives for six years, and was appointed Deputy Secretary of Transportation by Governor Shumlin in 2011. She was appointed to lead the recovery effort following Tropical Storm Irene, and became Secretary of Transportation in 2015. She recently resigned her position in order to run for Governor.
Matt Dunne, another Democratic gubernatorial candidate, is scheduled to visit Adamant on Tuesday, May 17. Candidates for Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman and Kesha Ram have expressed interest, but have not confirmed a date; we are still waiting to hear back from Peter Galbraith, Phil Scott, and Bruce Lisman.
The informal setting will be an ideal way to meet the candidates face to face, and to find out where they stand on a variety of issues. Please spread the word!
In other Community Club news, renovations will begin in June, thanks to a generous grant from the Division of Historic Preservation. The work will include rebuilding of the chimney, installation of a new roof, repair of the porch roof, and replacement of the front steps. There will be other events this summer at the Community Club: a few film nights, some music, and an evening of storytelling.
