Calling All Newbury Vegetable Gardeners…
Would you consider “adding a row” to your garden to benefit the students of Newbury Elementary School (NES)?
NES would like to use your surplus home-grown vegetables to supplement its hot lunch program.
Tomatoes, onions, garlic, peppers, basil, potatoes, carrots, squash: NES’s Chef Paul Pellegrino says he can use a wide variety of produce. Some will be eaten fresh, some frozen for use over the coming school year.
NES’s students are growing physically and mentally. They’ll be nourished by your healthy, garden-fresh produce. Meanwhile, your contribution will mean NES will need less commercially purchased food, so your garden will relieve some of the strain on the school’s hot-lunch budget.
One further request: Can you join us at a meeting with Principal Chance Lindsley, Chef Paul Pellegrino, and your gardening neighbors, to answer questions and help iron out the details of the program?
Place: Newbury Elementary School cafeteria
Time: 2:00 pm
Date: Thursday, May 5
