Primo Maggio Dinner at the Old Labor Hall April 30

Past event
Apr 30, 2016, 6 PM

Although Barre’s Old Labor Hall has traditionally focused its annual Primo Maggio celebration on the Granite City’s Italian heritage, this year we celebrate the Scots, many of whom were active in the groups who met at the Hall and who
also celebrated the workers' May Day.

The annual dinner, which this year includes traditional Scottish fare, will be followed by a concert of traditional Scottish music. We are delighted to welcome:

* Norman Kennedy- a world-renowned weaver and singer. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, home of most of Barre's Scottish immigrants, Norman is a National Heritage Fellow, our nation’s highest honor for keepers of tradition.

*Dominique Dodge is a harper and singer based in Charlotte. She is deeply grounded in the music and song traditions of Scotland and has performed widely on both sides of the Atlantic.

*Ian Gauthier has been playing the bagpipes for over 15 years. He has played competitively as a solo piper and with Vermont's Catamount Pipe Band.

Tickets: $25 in advance online or at the door (reservations suggested) http://oldlaborhall.org/primo-maggio-2016/
