Resilience Awareness and Action Project Kick-Off Meeting

Greetings Plainfield Residents & Community,

I am writing to introduce myself and invite you to a kick-off meeting for Plainfield’s Resilience Awareness and Action Project. I am Sarah McShane and was recently hired to help coordinate Plainfield’s Resilience Awareness and Action Project. This one-year project, funded with a grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program, aims to increase community understanding and preparedness for crises such as the unparalleled series of flood and stormwater-related events Plainfield has had to deal with in recent years.

Plainfield’s largely volunteer government has responded admirably to these events with volunteer committees, modifying zoning regulations, and by obtaining financial and technical assistance to evaluate and address urgent problems. In doing so, the town has been demonstrating its commitment to building a resilient community.

The Plainfield community should be proud of everything it has been doing, on a limited budget and with unpaid staff, to evaluate and respond to the disruptions it has experienced. My job, and the goal of this project, is to strengthen and accelerate efforts that are currently underway through education, organization, and outreach. How I do this will depend in large part on your input.

I would like the opportunity discuss this project in greater detail and to seek your support and advice at a “kick-off” meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 4th beginning at 6:30 pm at the Plainfield Town Hall Opera House. More details about the project, and how you can be involved, will be presented, and any questions or comments you might have will be welcome.

I hope to see you there! Have a nice weekend.
