The Planning Commission (PC) received a pre-application 45-day notice for Encore Renewable Energy’s proposed 1.3MW solar array to be located on Magee Hill Road (property owned by Tim & Kristi Brown). According to the notice, the project proposes a solar array that will occupy roughly 6.6 acres on the north side of Magee Hill Road. The electricity generated will flow to the VT Electric Cooperative and serve VEC customers. VEC will retain the renewable energy credits associated with the project in order to help meet its renewable resource requirements.
The PC plans to discuss the project at their May 11 meeting at 7:30pm at the Hinesburg Town Office. The PC has busy schedule for this meeting, so the conversation will likely be limited to 30 minutes. Hopefully, someone from Encore will be there to give a brief project overview and to answer questions. They have been invited. The purpose of the discussion is so that the PC can decide whether or not to provide comments on the project ahead of the formal application to the Public Service Board – anticipated to be on/after June 7, 2016.
