Join us this Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 AM for the next Wild Kelly's Wild Edibles- Walk and Workshop. At 26 Saxon Lane in Jericho, off Skunk Hollow Road.

We had a wonderful time at our first walk on April 16, with a small, knowledgable group.

Because of this weird, slow, on-and-off again spring we’ve been having, there were only a few early edibles and a couple of the early ephemeral flowers (not all edible) out. But we had plenty to talk about and we all learned a lot from each other.

Just today (Thursday) we took a walk in the woods, to check on what’s popped, and there’s a lot more out there.

Once again, we are going to start with a walk focusing on some of the earliest spring edibles and the ephemeral flowers which also come out around this time.

Then we’ll focus on our local favorites: -RAMPS!!! - wild leeks. You'll have an opportunity to dig some leeks to take home and plant and we will show you how to sustainably harvest some to take home to cook. There will also be some fresh wild leek and cheese biscuits to share.

After the walk, we will be doing a project developing an “acid lover's hugelkultur” - basically an oversized raised bed on top of a pile of decaying wood, which makes a great home for acid loving plants, such as blueberry bushes. See the comment below for more details..

We will be starting at 10 o'clock, but you will easily be able to catch up with us if you arrive late because we'll be walking within sight of the house for the first half hour. We are looking forward to seeing you this Saturday!

We are also going to be doing workshops on Saturday, May 14th and May 21st, so mark your calendars. These will be in a similar format, with a walk and workshop, but the workshops will be on different topics.
