Vermont Youth Orchestra Spring Concert Sunday

The Vermont Youth Orchestra bids farewell to Music Director Jeffrey Domoto on May 1, 2016 at 3:00pm at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. After five years with the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association, Maestro Domoto conducts its flagship orchestra in a program that celebrates the connections that are made between peers and student and teacher. Works on the program include prolific Russian composer, and teacher to Sergei Prokofiev, Alexander Glazunov’s March on a Russian Theme. It is followed by the fantasy overture Over the Hills and Far Away composed by English composer and Glazunov contemporary, Frederick Delius. No one can deny the role that ballet music has played in the creation of some of the most frequently performed orchestral suites. The second half of the concert is devoted to two well-known and beloved orchestral suites. The first is “Montagues and Capulets” from Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic Romeo and Juliet Orchestral Suite No. 2 and Manuel de Falla’s Three Cornered Hat. You don’t want to miss this program that features our region’s finest young musicians.
