Class on Great French-Canadian Genealogy Website

Past event
Apr 30, 2016, 10:30 AM to 12 PM

This Saturday, at the VT Genealogy Library at Ft. Ethan Allen, two experienced family historians will describe the features and content of a wonderful database of Quebec families that includes over 19,000 surnames and 1 million people. Lou Izzo and Don Lacross will discuss "Nos Origines" a website in both English and French. The information in the database includes names, occupations, dates and locations for specific individuals with births, marriages and burials in Quebec. Searches can be performed by surname, full name, keywords or Record ID number. Entries in the database must first be verified by the administrators so these records have a high degree of accuracy.

The class starts at 10:30 AM and runs to noon, including the Q&A session at the end. The class is $5 and includes a handout. After the class stay and use our 12 computers to research on Nos Origines or use our free subscriptions to FindMyPast.com (world), Ancestry.com (world), PRDH & Lafrance (Quebec), AmericanAncestors.org (New England/New York) and AmericasCivilWarDatase.com. You can also use our 4500 books, decades of genealogical periodicals and microfilm/microfiche collections. Volunteers are available to help you.
