On May 5, at 7:00 pm, Compassion & Choices, in cooperation with Patient Choices Vermont, will host a free screening of the award winning documentary, "How to Die in Oregon", at the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Church at 2 Duane Ct, Middlebury. Following the film, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and find out how Vermont’s Act 39, which is similar to the law in Oregon, is working. The event is free and will run 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
In How to Die in Oregon, filmmaker Peter Richardson gently enters the lives of the terminally ill as they consider whether – and when – to hasten their death by lethal overdose. Richardson examines both sides of this complex, emotionally charged issue. What emerges is a life-affirming, staggeringly powerful portrait of what it means to die with dignity.
