The COTS Walk is a 3-mile trek around downtown Burlington, along the route that a homeless person might walk in a day from shelters to services. It begins with music and festivities at Battery Park and wraps up there with free Ben & Jerry's. It's the one day of the year when shelters are open so the community can visit and see where the money they raise is put to work.

Go to cotsonline.org to register. It's quick and easy. Then form a team with your family, neighbors, friends, co-workers, church group, poker group, book group... Everyone raising a few dollars here and there will add up fast.

This is a great eye-opening experience for kids--in fact, for anyone who wonders how our community provides for our homeless neighbors--families, elderly, veterans, and all Vermonters who are facing this crisis.
