Next weekend brings May Day and all that comes with it. Please consider a visit to the Old Labor Hall in Barre, Vermont, for one (or both) traditional event(s) with roots that date back more than a century:

Celebrate the Scottish contribution to Barre with dinner and music on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 6:00 PM. Performances following dinner will feature traditional Scottish songs by National Heritage Fellowship recipient, Singer/Weaver Norman Kennedy and Harpist/Singer Dominique Dodge. Tickets for the dinner and concert are $25.

The next day, Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 4 PM, University of Massachusetts Professor Robert E. Weir will make a free presentation, “Solid Men in the Granite City,” an illustrated talk about Barre’s two Scottish/socialist mayors. Both events will be held at the Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite Street, Barre, Vermont 05641. For more information & reservations: 802-479-5600 or oldlaborhall.org.

Hope to see some of you in Barre next weekend!
