The Addison County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a gubernatorial candidates’ forum on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. The forum will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vergennes Opera House, 120 Main Street, Vergennes Vt. Eric Davis, professor emeritus, Middlebury College will moderate the event.
This is a non-partisan event in which both Democratic and Republican candidates will be participating. Candidates who have committed to participating in the forum include Peter Galbraith (D), Bruce Lisman (R), Sue Minter (D) and Phil Scott (R). Likely topics for discussion include:
• Vermont state budget - taxes and spending
• Health care - payment reform, Vermont Health Connect
• Economic development
• K-12 education - school district consolidation, property taxes
• Marijuana legalization
Questions may be posed by the audience directly to a candidate(s) either verbally or questions can come written on a card for the moderator to ask.
