Vermont has 6000 bears. More bears than there are people in Morristown. Thursday, April 28 at the Peoples Academy Auditorium you can learn about their behavior. The Morristown Conservation Commission is sponsoring a free talk by Ben Kilham entitled "Black Bear Behavior". Ben Kilham has studied the black bear for 20 years and has discovered many of their social skills. Did you know that bears are a society of individuals that share surplus food with both kin and strangers with reciprocity? Did you know bears can communicate with each other by sounds and smells? Mr. Kilham has many photos to illustrate his talk. He has had many encounters with the bears which will amaze everyone. Most of our knowledge of bears comes from seeing them run across the road or pull down a bird feeder. Come and join the Morristown Conservation Commission and achieve a greater understanding of these wonderful creatures.
