The Scots are coming! This year’s annual Primo Maggio (May 1) celebration at Barre’s Old Labor Hall honors the Scottish contribution to the Granite City with dinner and music on April 30 at 6 PM and an illustrated talk about Barre’s two socialist and Scottish mayors by University of Massachusetts professor Robert E. Weir on May 1 at 4 PM. The performance following the dinner will feature traditional Scottish songs by National Heritage Fellowship recipient, singer-weaver Norman Kennedy and harpist/singer Dominique Dodge. Piper Ian Gauthier will also add to the celebration. Tickets for the dinner and concert are $25. The Weir talk is free. All events are at the Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite Street.
