Save the dates and plan to help out for Green Up Day/Weekend 2016, on May 7 & 8. All it takes is a green bag (plus a clear bag if you want to recycle cans and bottles too), and an hour or two of your time to help keep Charlotte beautiful, and to keep one of our state's best traditions alive on the first weekend in May.
Charlotte has a new Green Up Day (GUD) coordinator: Joanna Cummings will replace Joe Gallagher beginning this year. Please say thank you to Joe when you see him, for serving the town as a great coordinator over the past few years. A new website was created for Green Up Day Charlotte, so please go to http://greenupcharlottevt.com for all the information you need to volunteer. It is really easy to find a route and sign up for it on the website. If you have any problems signing up on the website please contact Joanna at joanna@yellowladyslipper.org for help.
Thanks again to Junior and Leslie Lewis for their help! They will make three of their trucks available at the CCS Quonset Hut on May 7 & 8 to collect GUD bags, tires and scrap metal. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE BAGS ALONG THE ROADSIDE. The town does not pick up bags and neither does the GUD coordinator. Bring all filled bags, tires and scrap metal that you collected from roadsides to the Quonset Hut on Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, May 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.
There are several other activities and events happening during the Green Up Day weekend. Please check the activities page on the Green Up Charlotte website for information about buying compost, student tours of the CCS composting shed, a tree and shrub sale, the seed library, electronic waste recycling, and helping out at the wildlife refuge.
