Jay Parini "The Writer and the Movies" Talk in Middlebury

The Hawthorne Club and the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History are sponsoring a presentation by Jay Parini on "The Writer and the Movies" on Thursday April 14, 2016 at 7 pm at the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society, 2 Duane Court, Middlebury. Parini, an internationally recognized prolific and widely published poet, novelist, biographer and critic will discuss his experience with Hollywood. His novel "The Last Station", set in the final tumultuous years of Leo Tolstoy's life, was made into an Academy Award-nominated film, starring Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer. Film adaptations are currently underway of his historical novel "Benjamin's Crossing" and his recent biography of Gore Vidal. Admission is free.
