What are Home Energy Visits?
A Home Energy Visit involves volunteers conducting walk-through, visual assessments of homes to identify energy saving opportunities and provide informational resources. These energy savings opportunities might include air sealing/insulation or replacing inefficient appliances. During a Home Energy Visit, homeowners receive information on financial incentives, how to find energy professionals, and guidance on next steps. A Home Energy Visit is not a professional energy audit, but it can help homeowners decide whether a professional audit might be needed. Each Home Energy Visit lasts approximately one hour. Volunteers do not need previous experience or knowledge in energy efficiency to conduct a Home Energy Visit; however, all volunteers need to participate in a two-hour training on how to conduct a visit.
