Ecologist Chris Polatin will demonstrate tools and techniques for management of invasive plants. He'll show you how to perform the "cut stem treatment" using pruners and loppers, and how to use the Buckthorn Blaster sponge applicator to treat freshly cut stems. Chris will also demonstrate how to pull seedlings and garlic mustard by hand, and how to use a propane torch on Japanese Barberry and honeysuckle. Proper and responsible invasive plant disposal, including brush piles and burning, will be covered as well.
Chris Polatin works as a habitat restoration specialist through his company, Polatin Ecological Services, which dedicates itself to ecological restoration planning, invasive plant management and native plant establishment.
