Shop 'Til You Drop for Ziegs!

Tim Ziegler is a father, husband and friend to so many. Maybe his most important job though is that of teacher. Tim has taught science at Stowe High School for over twenty years and he has made a meaningful impact on generations of students and their families. He is/was not only their teacher, but their mentor, confident and friend when they needed guidance and support. Add to that full-time teacher job that of soccer coach, food drive organizer, Christmas gift collector for the needy, Thanksgiving meal server, the list goes on and on. He is the man with a huge heart in and out of the classroom.

And then nearly two years ago, that heart decided it was worn out. Specifically, Tim was diagnosed with Cardiac Sarcoidosis, a degenerative disease that requires him to have a heart transplant. Currently recovering from LVAD surgery in Boston, Tim is unable to work and will need months of hospitalization and daily medications that will run into the thousands of dollars while he waits for a donor heart. The deductible after insurance will be over $200,000. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up and the response has been phenomenal.

But more is still needed, so this Saturday, April 9th, merchants throughout Stowe will participate in Shop ‘till You Drop for Tim. Participating businesses will offer 10% or more of the day’s sales to the fund to support Tim and his care. From exercise classes, to shopping, to restaurants, to entertainment options, the types of activities and ways one can be involved are numerous. Bouquets of red balloons will be flying outside participating businesses all day, an easy way to see the merchants that are giving and a great visual testament to the community’s love of Tim. Practically every shop is having a spectacular sale and we would love everyone in Northern Vermont and beyond to come to town on Saturday the 9th, not only for Tim and his family, but to support Stowe and these wonderful merchants. So come out yourself but also bring some friends and enjoy the day together.
