Solaris Vocal Ensemble’s spring “In Full Bloom” concerts this weekend!! The concerts will feature choral gems by English composers for voices with organ including C.H.H. Parry’s “I Was Glad” (sung at every coronation of an English monarch since Edward the VII in 1902) and beloved choral works by Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Dr. Susan Summerfield, music faculty member at St. Michael’s College will be organist. Also highlighted in these concerts will be the 100th birthday celebration and choral arrangements of renowned choral conductor and arranger, Robert Shaw (1916 – 1999). Across the United States choirs are celebrating the music of Shaw whom many consider to be “America’s greatest conductor of choral music.” Solaris’ Artistic Director, Dr. Dawn Willis, sang under Shaw’s leadership while living in Atlanta and also in two Carnegie Hall performances.
The concerts will be on Saturday, April 9th at 7:30 at Waterbury Congregational Church and on Sunday, April 10th at 3:00 at College Street Congregational Church in Burlington. Visit www.SolarisEnsemble.org for more information.
