The Poultney Earth Fair is an annual tradition that draws hundreds of people from the local region to celebrate the environment and community.

This year, the 9th Annual Poultney Earth Fair will be held on Wednesday, April 13th from 2-5 p.m. at Poultney High School.

Poultney’s 7th and 8th graders will be hosting the Fair and chose this year’s theme: “The Story of Our Earth.” There will be plenty of family fun including free food, music, and activities for all ages. The event is free and open to the public!

A parade down Poultney’s Main Street kicks off the event, starting at the Green Mountain College circle at 1:30PM. The procession will begin with a fire truck, followed by banners, larger-than-life paper maché heads, drumming, music, dancing, and all are welcome to join.

Arriving at Poultney High School, students and more than 60 exhibitors have prepared stimulating and fun interactive demonstrations and activities to showcase what individuals can do to enrich their communities. The goal is to motivate the next generation of leaders to be solution-seekers, to be able to tackle the complex issues they will be facing in the future.

As always, everything at the Fair is free: wood-fired organic pizzas, apples and cheese and other locally produced food, live music, and every exhibit and activity. Many of the displays result from creative projects by students from Poultney’s public schools and Green Mountain College, in addition to exhibits from many local organizations.

Join the fun and explore the Earth Fair's scavenger hunt with free prizes, see the recycled K-Cup dragon sculpture, tie-dye your own T-shirt, listen to storytelling, discover information about energy innovations, draw or paint, practice shooting at a laser hunting setup, and see live chicks and hens.

At the same time, you’ll be treated to live music from bluegrass band Spruce Knob Uprising, and singer and musician Heidi Brown with KinderMusik.
