Class Description:

Colored pencils aren’t just for children! Artists worldwide are discovering the joys of working in colored pencil, and colored pencil artworks are now found in some of the finest galleries in the world. Colored pencils in the hands of a skilled artist can produce a variety of different effects: airbrush, watercolor-like wash, or an oil painting.
Colored pencil painting is affordable and requires a minimum of supplies when compared to other painting mediums. Colored pencil is a clean, non-toxic medium that does not require complicated set up and clean up time.
This more advanced class will include advice and discussion of the materials needed and how to select the appropriate materials and tools and demonstrations of several popular colored pencil techniques. Students will be introduced to working with an embossing tool, use of Colorless Blending Markers, Odorless Mineral Spirits, and working on toned paper. Ample class time will be provided for students to work in this slow medium, with instructor guidance.
