Guilford, VT--The Brattleboro Interfaith teens, representing five local faith communities, are hosting a chicken barbecue and concert at the Guilford Community Church on Saturday, April 2 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.to help fund their 2nd service trip in July to the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.
The dinner menu--to eat in or take out-- includes barbecue chicken, potato salad, vegetarian chili, macaroni and cheese, green salad and apple crisp with ice cream. The price is $15 for the dinner and concert or $12 for the dinner only.
The concert will include an introduction by both the teens and Kristen Graves, a founder of the SIMPLY SMILES organization which has been working in La Plant, South Dakota for the past six years.
Kristen Graves is a singer, songwriter and humanitarian, called 'the new generation of folk' by the New York Times. Graves has been mentioned in Rolling Stone for her musical link with environmental activism. Her most recent honor came from Governor Malloy of Connecticut when he proclaimed December 15 to be Kristen Graves Day, a day to honor the arts, compassion and social justice.
With catchy songs, funny stories and inspiring lyrics, Graves performs nearly 200 shows a year delighting audiences coast-to-coast and internationally. Her most notable performances have been with Dar Williams, Guy Davis, Holly Near, Peter Yarrow and the late Pete Seeger. Graves has release 8 studio albums, and all are available on iTunes.
