Lyric Theatre Company presents Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins on the Flynn Center MainStage (Burlington, VT) April 1st-3rd and 7th-10th. Everyone’s favorite nanny, who is “practically perfect in every way,” takes the stage in this magical musical adventure. Based on the 1964 film and the books by P.L. Travers, Mary Poppins appears just as the wind changes to positively influence the lives of her young charges and their parents. The musical is an enchanting mixture of classic story, heartwarming songs, rousing dance numbers, and astonishing stagecraft. (Mary Poppins will indeed fly!) The show was adapted for the stage by Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey fame. The score includes “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” “Step in Time,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” as well as some new numbers.
