Rusty Blackbird populations have plummeted and no one knows why. In 2014 the International Rusty Blackbird Working Group initiated the Rusty Blackbird Spring Migration Blitz to gather information about Rusty Blackbirds in migration. In this program Bruce MacPherson, the coordinator of the Migration Blitz in Vermont in 2016, will discuss Rusty Blackbird identification, distribution, and the threats to their existence. The program will be followed by a field trip to the South Hero Marsh on April 9 to search for Rusty Blackbirds in migration.
