This is truly good news that benefits not only the participants but our society at large by creating increased peace and stability in the community.
I am excited to share information about an innovative writing project that has culminated in the launching of the book titled Hear Me, See Me: Incarcerated Women Write, edited by Sarah Bartlett and Mary Beth Redmond.
The publishing of this book has risen out of a program called 'writing inside VT' which has been facilitating incarcerated women to reflect and give voice to their stories in writing. This process of expression along with active compassionate listening is changing lives. Recidivism rates decrease while self-awareness, security and the ability to make new choices increases in the women who participate in this program, positively affecting their children, neighbors and community at large.
