Dear Community Members,
Mountain River School would like to personally invite you to join us for our Parent Information Night and Forum on Holistic Nature Based Education on Thursday, March 24th, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. We will offer parents and community members an opportunity to hear more about our approach and meet our staff. In addition to our current K-1 teachers Piper Orwig and Leigh Ann Reynolds, we are pleased to announce two new staff members joining us for the fall. Garin Samuelson, our new combined 5th-6th grade teacher, and Christine Everitt, our new Holistic Curriculum Advisor and Teacher/Child Support. Both have been working and teaching holistically for over 12 years!
We will talk about our expansion for this fall and our continued growth plan over the coming years, as well as show people our new space that is currently under renovation.
“Holistic education calls forth the whole child to experience learning through developing deep, compassionate relationships with themselves, their peers and teachers and their environment. Absorbing knowledge does not happen in isolated moments but is rather acquired and celebrated throughout the school day and beyond. Holistic education supports and encourages humans to be "lifelong learners," while igniting a sense of wonder in all that is around.
Teachers take time to observe a child's curiosities and questions in order to bring forth enriching learning experiences students feel connected to rather than relying solely upon a predetermined curriculum. As children are inspired to learn through emergence, teachers also lay the foundations for the fundamentals necessary to be and feel successful in today's learning environment.
When teachers and children alike can look at one another and say "I see you," our true beings come forth to take risks, collaborate, think critically and be vulnerable within a supportive community.” -Christine Everitt
Mountain River School appreciates that financially it can be challenging to pay for our children’s education. One of our primary goals is to make our school a choice for all families that share our vision and mission. We are actively working on securing funding to offer tuition assistance for families. In addition, we are also committed to offering families who have multiple children enrolled at MRS special discounts to help lessen the burden. We encourage all community members that are intrigued by our school, but concerned about the financial piece, to come and learn more about our program and speak to us about applying for aid.
This evening is available for all community members to come and hear more about our exciting school! We hope to see you on March 24th! Please find attached to this email our flyer that is also posted around the greater Lamoille county community.
Warmly,
Mountain River School, Rebecca LaScolea and Kary Bennett, Co-Founders and Executive Directors
