AARP Vermont & The Center on Aging at UVM invite you to an exciting & informative community workshop,The Village Movement: Getting Started in Vermont.
Since the Village Movement began in Beacon Hill Village in Boston in 2001, there has been a growing interest in developing Villages. Villages are typically a group of residents, age 50 and older, that form a non-profit membership organization to provide access to services, socialization opportunities, and recreation events that support their goal of remaining at home as long as possible.
This workshop will cover specific topics involved in developing your own Village, including:
• the different types of Village models, from volunteer, social and full-service models
• conducting a needs survey
• the value of a Village membership
• developing a Village service package
• how to identify strategic partners
Guest speaker Natalie Galucia, MSW, from the Village to Village Network will provide the tools to start a Village that can support older adults to remain in their neighborhoods and successfully age in place.
