Lamoille Union is very pleased to present a One-Act play “The Case of Alex Hansen” on Thursday March 17 at 7 p.m. This hard-hitting drama was written by Vermont’s own award-winning playwright, Alan Haehnel.
The play’s title character, Alex Hansen (played by Noel Kramer), finds himself in custody with no idea why, and with many questions, such as “Where am I? Why am I here? What did I do? How can I be forgiven? What’s to come of me?” His legal representation (Played by Clayton Sansone) is spotty, and the circumstances of his trial seem terribly odd. The Prosecutor (Gillianne Sheppard) and the Judge (Michael McLure) seem out to get him from the start. Even the jury is less than sympathetic. When it seems that things could not possibly go worse, he receives his redemption in a most mysterious manner. All-in-all, this mind-bending play is very demanding for young actors, and cast has risen to the challenge.
The play will also be presented at BFA Fairfax on March 19 as part of the Vermont Drama Festival program. Other schools in attendance at this regional site will be Peoples Academy, BFA St. Albans, South Burlington, Craftsbury, and of course the host school BFA Fairfax.
Others in the cast and crew include Adelle Yetman, Alfred Stryffeler, Avery Pecor, Damien Peatman, Danny Miller, David Constantine, Ericke Ferriman, Hannah Randall, Jacob Lowe, James Koss, Julie Menize, Mistaya Gwozdz, Quilla Holden, Rhiannon Boutin, Kenny Grenier, Austin Russin, Chloe Wissel-Robar and Makayla Jones.
Tickets are available at the door for $5 for the performance March 17. Some parts of the play could be upsetting to children under 10.
