Richmond Farmers Market Highlights Sept. 27

Music at 5: Out of the Blue, an innovative, bluesy-folksy trio performing mostly original works plus a few covers. The group consists of local residents Richard Salzman on guitar, Joanne Ranney on bodhran, and Carl Lorentson on bass. Sponsored by NOFA-VT, who’d like you to know that Share the Harvest is Thursday, October 3rd. You dine out at a participating restaurant, and a portion of your tab will be donated to the Farm Share program, providing subsidized CSA shares to low-income Vermonters.

Produce this week: Certified organic fall raspberries and strawberries, ginger, garlic & garlic braids, sweet potatoes, peppers (both sweet & hot), tomatillos, tomatoes, daikon, root crops and winter squash, pickles, basil, dill, cilantro, wild edibles (last week!), carrots, beets, spinach, kale, chard, braising greens, salad greens, arugula, onions, shallots, leeks, and more.

Other groceries: pasture-raised chicken, beef, pork, & eggs; maple syrup; honey; pastries; vegan handmade chocolate; maple candies; kimchi, wine, vegan cheesecake.

Dining options: SamosaMan (samosas and curries); Maple Wind Farm (grilled burgers, hotdogs, and sausages); Kadric’s (Eastern European cuisine); Kimchi for Chingu (noodles, dumplings, vegetarian sushi); Maple Tree Tea (iced & hot teas); Sweet Simone’s (baked goods).

Crafts: candles, wool & woolens, felted animals, pottery, soaps & lotions, hand-forged metal works, jewelry, massage, ornamental terrariums and air plants, henna tattoos, Japanese stencil-dyed T-shirts.

Community Booth(s): Richmond Free Library will be giving out information about library services and selling used books; Camels Hump Middle Schoolers will be selling Buy Local coupon books and handmade bracelets to raise money for a class trip to Ottawa.

Absent this week: Good Companion Bakery (bread) - done for the season. Chocolate Hollow (will be back next week).
