Household Hazardous Waste Collection Oct. 5

The Mad River Resource Management Alliance is cosponsoring with the Vermont Department Of Environmental Conservation and the Moretown Landfill, Inc. a Household Hazardous Waste Collection on October 5 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Harwood Union High School. Residents and exempt small quantity generators of hazardous waste can bring all their pesticides and an additional 10 pounds of solid or 10 gallons of liquid hazardous waste to this event. Residents can also bring all their compact fluorescent lamps(CFLs) and up to 10 additional tubes at no charge. So bring your household hazardous chemicals including oil based paints, solvents, old gasoline, used crankcase oil, mercury added products, glues, oven cleaners and pool chemicals. If you have any mercury thermostats we will give you a card to mail back for a $5.00 rebate from the Thermostat Recyclling Corporation. Exempt small quantity generators should pre-register by contacting John Malter at 244-7373 by October 2 with the type and quantity of waste you are planning to bring. Bring your mercury fever thermometers and we will give you a digital thermometer, limit one per family. Don't bring latex paint, compressed gases, medical waste, explosives or radioactive waste.
