"Walking in the Footsteps of George Perkins Marsh: Vermonter...Conservationist...First U.S. Minister to Italy"

Saturday, March 19, from 1-3 p.m. in 427 Waterman (UVM) the Vermont Italian
Club and the UVM Dept. of Romance Languages will cosponsor a talk about George Perkins
Marsh, given by John C. Elder, Professor Emeritus, Middlebury College. Marsh, a Vermonter,
was America's first minister to the new nation of Italy from 1861 to 1882. Marsh is considered
by some to be America's first environmentalist and a powerful advocate of the sustainability
concept.
(NOTE: Parking is available at no charge in the parking lot behind Waterman)
