Save the Date: Last Haz Waste Collection of 2013 Coming Up Soon!

Oct 12, 2013, 9 AM to 1 PM

On Saturday, October 12, the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District will hold its final household hazardous waste collection of 2013 in Montpelier at the Department of Labor Parking Lot from 9 am - 1 pm. There is a fee of $15 per carload for district residents.

This is our biggest collection of the year, so please follow these tips:

1) Follow our guidelines for what is hazardous waste (http://www.cvswmd.org/what-is-hazardous-waste.html) or call our offices with questions at 229-9383 ext. 105.

2) Each carload costs $15 for in district residetns (more for out of district) - so make the most of your money, gas and time by joining with friends, neighbors or family to share loads. CVSWMD encourages this kind of car-sharing and the fee remains the same no matter how many households are represented per car.

3) Consider that this is a large collection and so the lines will be long. Therefore, help us reduce the number of cars in line by sharing a load with neighbors.

4) Bring reading material and a snack, because there will likely be a wait ranging from 15 - 45 minutes when you arrive.

5) Consider arriving in the middle of the event rather than at the beginning, when lines are longest. Come around 11 am or noon for shorter lines.

6) We do take LATEX paint at hazardous waste collections, but you can also bring LIQUID LATEX PAINTto our Additional Recyclables Collection Center on any Monday or Friday afternoon for just $1.00 per carload. (http://www.cvswmd.org/arcc-additional-recyclables-collection-center.html) Do bring us your oil paint, paint thinners and other household hazardous materials - but if you are able to save the latex paint to bring to Barre, that, too, may save time and money for residents.

Don't forget to call us at 229-9383 with any questions or visit our website for more details: http://www.cvswmd.org/what-is-hazardous-waste.html

District residents are from the following towns:
Barre City, Barre Town, Berlin, Bradford, Calais, Chelsea, East Montpelier, Fairlee, Hardwick, Middlesex, Montpelier, Orange, Plainfield, Tunbridge, Walden, Washington, Williamstown, and Woodbury.
