Truman Naramore was a Charlotte recruit in the First Vermont Cavalry in the Civil War. He was captured at Craig's Meeting House at the Wilderness, and was sent to Andersonville. He survived to become a successful farmer, businessman, inventor, and land speculator. His story is told by Richard H. Allen in "Ambition & Grit, the Life of Truman Naramore, Civil War Veteran and Entrepeneur," recently published by the Chittenden County Historical Society. Please join us at the Charlotte Community Library Tuesday evening for Richard's talk and some refreshments. His book will be available.
