The Fletcher Elementary School is pleased to announce a morning with the October Siberians sled dog team and lead musher Robert Farley on Thursday, March 10th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The event is free and Fletcher families, friends and community members are encouraged to attend.
The team’s visit will begin with a picture-filled whole-school presentation that chronicles the life of a sled dog including housing, training, feeding, racing and socialization. The event is timed to coincide with the Iditarod, a long-distance sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Farley will also speak about the race and share the personal stories of several famed dogs.
Following the presentation, classes will experience outside interactive sessions with the dogs and sledding equipment.
The October Siberians are a 20-dog team of Siberian Huskies based in Hinesburg, Vermont. Farley, a full-time employee for the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, received his first dog in 1994 and founded the group in 2005. More information is available at: www.octobersiberians.com.
A very special thank you to Friends of Fletcher Elementary (FOFE) for co-sponsoring this event.
