South Hero Land Trust is excited to share our plans for three upcoming events in our 2016 Naturalist Series. We hope you will join us for fresh air, friends, and discovery of our unique and beautiful landscape!
THIS SATURDAY! 10:00-11:30 AM: A Winter Walk at Allen Point Access Area. South Hero Land Trust Outreach Coordinator Katy Lord will lead us as we discover the old rail-bed of the Island Line at South Hero's Allen Point. We'll talk all things winter- from historic lake ice harvesting to "sleeping" fish! Bring binoculars for a closer look or a camera to capture the frozen lake!
Please dress for conditions- we'll bring hot cider.
Meet at the Allen Point Access Area trail head. Get directions of RSVP with Katy at 372-3786 or katy@shlt.org.
Sunday, March 20th, 10:00-11:30 AM: A winter tracking excursion with South Burlington Recreation and Parks Department expert naturalist Sophie Mazowita. Sophie will lead us as we learn to identify tracks, scat, and other animal signs at Landon Community Trail. Celebrate the first day of spring and learn about how wildlife behave through the changing of the seasons! Stay tuned for more information.
Saturday, April 2nd: In conjunction with Vermont Maple Open House weekend, we'll host a walk all about trees. We'll learn about maple and other tree species at Fox Hill. Stick around to enjoy the festivities at Snow Farm Vineyard and Winter, including a pop-up farmers' market and sugaring demonstrations. Stay tuned for details.
