Past event
Feb 27, 2016, 10 AM to 12:30 PM

The first Town Forest logging contract is underway. The Town's consulting forester, Jeff Smith of Butternut Hollow Forestry, will lead a workshop on Saturday, February 27. Anyone interested in learning about logging or specifically about the Town Forest logging is invited to meet at 133 Waterman Street (East Barre), the Waterman St. water storage tank, at 10:00 am. Dress warm and ready to walk in the woods along trails and skid roads. The workshop should end about 12:00 pm. Mr. Smith will talk about why certain trees are cut, how they will be used and how harvesting can benefit the forest. Owners of woodlands who want to learn about logging are encouraged to attend. For more information contact the town manager's office at 479-9331 or crogers@barretown.org.
